Program Overview
The 3 Recurring Artist Residency exposes artists to the intricate and expressive medium of stone lithography, sparking connections between artistic practices and new processes of creation. A key goal is to boost the presence of lithographic fine art in Detroit and beyond.
Each artist-in-residence will spend one month producing an edition of prints. The only creative guideline is that their work must respond to the previous artist’s edition, creating a continuous dialogue like a game of telephone. Residents receive one-on-one mentorship and guidance, with materials provided to ensure they can focus on their vision.
Eligibility & Application
The residency is open to Detroit-based artists, with particular encouragement for international applicants and painters interested in expanding their practice into printmaking.
To apply, submit:
• Artist statement
• CV
• Portfolio of 5 works relevant to your interest in lithographic printmaking
• A statement of intent or proposal (max 500 words)
• Website link
• $5 application fee
Applications open in January 2025, with the first residency session beginning February 1.

• Profits from sold prints will be shared equally (50/50) between the artist and 3 Recurring.
• Work from this residency will contribute to future exhibitions or publications celebrating the artists’ contributions.
